A biopic of Tupac was recently released and I had the opportunity to see it. I am not necessarily a movie fanatic but I always have time for a great movie. How does Hollywood define ‘ great’ ? I don’t know. Generally speaking I think that this movie was great in the sense that it was cast well, kept my attention, I was emotionally connected, and it didn’t look like it was filmed in someone’s backyard. I was an adolescent during the apex of Tupac’s career and as a fan of east coast style rap and hip hop, I was not interested in much of his music at the time . I remember being a kid and understanding that he was brilliant, unique, and a special individual but I did not have the conscious awareness to appreciate the essence of his mission .
